Joanne Thornley
Church Secretary

When calling Trinity Lutheran Church, the first voice you are likely to hear is that of Joanne Thornley, our Church Secretary.

A life-long resident of the local area, Joanne began her ministry at Trinity in July of 1972. She has been secretary for 38 years and regards working here as a calling and not a job.

Joanne is involved in virtually every aspect of the church.  She coordinates the information for weddings, baptisms, funerals, new members, transfers and new confirmands. She also develops the schedules and provides information to our many volunteers such as the lay readers, communion assistants and greeters to name a few.

When reading the Sunday service bulletin or browsing through the Monthly Newsletter, you are looking at her work.  Joanne also provides current information to the webmaster so that our church website is always up to date.

According to Joanne, she’s also been known to “unclog toilets, fix printing machines, and scare salesmen.”

As you can see, our Church Secretary is very busy in the background keeping all the church business and activities running smoothly for the congregation.

If all of her duties were listed here, the information would probably run off this page!

However, she finds her work very rewarding and supports Pastor Andy in any way she can.

Joanne and Russ have been happily married for 47 years, and have one married daughter and an 18-year-old granddaughter.  In her “spare time” she enjoys ballet and jazz dance classes.
